Very strange, judging those versions I don't think it's a prototype.
If you slightly tap your device, does that do anything? (Just seeing if it could be a hardware problem with a jumper or similar)

It happened again and I have pictures but it is not letting me post a picture when I hit the "picture" icon.  Suggestions?

It must be a hardware problem.  I did tap it on the back and hit the reset button and now it is facing correctly.

Post it as an attachment or go to http://img.ourl.ca/ and paste the url inside [img][/img] tags
Also, don't 'double post', or post two posts in a row. use the modify button to the top right of the post.

Wow, that really is odd. Have you tried reinstalling the os?

That wouldn't help, the issue is also when starting up. It might be a jumper (a little resistor for example) that is loose or bad that sets the rotation of the display. That is of course just speculation though, but I can't see how it could be a software problem.

That's so cool that it would have been impossible to do :D
The fact that even the boot screen is reversed shows that it's not a software issue but, as jim said above, more like an hardware one if "tap-ing" (that is an hardware/physical change) is the only factor that creates this behavior.

That is really strange. I only ever saw this happen on certain TI-84+ models before when people ran bad ASM programs or triggered certain OS bugs.

The coolness level of this glitch is exceeding 9000 as we observe and ask questions. I can only think that I'd be a little overwhlemed if in his position, knowing practically nothing about what you guys are talking about and just wanting help xD
Z address?
* Dapianokid wants to know what that is
Keep trying.

IMO it's some adress pointed directly in the display driver. For instancr there is a z-a that shift the displayed VRAM up/bottom without editing any pixel.

I looked at the documentation of the primecell LCD controller, and there isn't  a bit that does that in the display driver. It must be flipped in the screen buffer, or something odd is happening.

I know this is a very old post but I had this happen to my CAS calc and fixed it so thought I may as well chip in.
Tried everything mentioned in the thread, took the battery out for >10mins, formatted and updated to latest OS, and gave it a few good hits in case there were any loose connections.
None of these worked so I took it apart. Noticed there was a small speck of oxidization or something on the connection from the screen to the main board. got rid of the speck and now everything is back to normal, no more flipped screen.

Not sure if there was a connection between the two but worth checking out if you're having this issue.
