Good job getting it installed! Glad you got an old HW revision so you could downgrade it. It must suck to be stuck on 3.9 and never getting to run any of the awesome ndless programs.

In such case you would need to use the RS232-TTL adapter method. The extra hardware has to be purchased online. Unfortunately there are currently no tutorial to downgrade from 3.9 yet (they're all for 3.6 it seems) so you would have to search through recent forum topics in this section or someone might have to help if they are still around.

Hi knux03.

I can provide some direction on this.

You will need to purchase one of these:

Hi! I'm new and I have googled a lot, and in need of some help.

I have a CX with the final letter C and I want to install CAS on the calculator.
When I bought it from a friend, it had software version 3.9... I have managed to downgrade it to 3.1.0.392, using the information available here in the forum. I'm currently unable to intall the CAS software on the device.

I understand that in order to be able to install the CAS softvare version I have to flash the boot2.  (Currently I have Boot1=3.0.99 and Boot2=3.24.7)

I will get an USB-TTL adapter soon but I haven't found information on the bersion of boot2 I should use and also some manual on how exactly to flash the device (programs/steps/etc).

Can anyone help, I would really appreciate it!
Heiki

Hi Heiki, welcome to the forums! You will need to use Nlaunch to install the CAS software. You don't need to flash the boot2, I think. If I'm mistaken, someone please correct me.

on a side note could the above post be moved to its own thread and the image 2 posts up be downscaled? :|

I tried to use Nlaunch, the calc will not accept the file. I'm pretty sure the boot2 needs to be flashed. If I'm wrong, I'm very happy  :)

You can flash boot2 3.1 (I believe) using nsNandMgr, available on ti-planet.

Thank you!

I flashed the boot2 using nsNandMgr and I'm now running CX CAS 3.1.0.392 on the CX calc :)
Boot2 version 3.10.16.

Do we have any approved updates or should I stick to this OS version now?

I'm a happy camper now, thank you again :)

If you care both about Lua programs and Ndless, you can install a switching pack (see this a a sort of dual boot) on your calc.
3.1 CAS / 3.2 CAS
3.1 CAS / 3.6 non CAS
This because 3.2 and 3.6 add some features to Lua but 3.2 doesn't support Ndless and 3.6 CAS isn't possible with nlaunch.

If you only care about Lua, you can just put the 3.2 CAS on your calc.

If you only care about Ndless, you can stay as you are with just the 3.1 CAS on your calc.

If you only care about the CAS and not about Ndless nor Lua, same, you're fine with the 3.1 or you can upgrade to 3.2 CAS.

And if you cared about Lua and Ndless but not the CAS, you could have put just the 3.6 non CAS but that's probably out of question.
I own: 83+ ; 84+SE ; 76.fr ; CX CAS ; Prizm ; 84+CSE
