Battlestar for Nspire
« on: June 22, 2013, 02:43:56 am »
Hello! I am starting to port a text-based game called battlestar to the Nspire. It is included in the BSD-games package, and I plan on porting many others, such as phantasia and adventure.

I fixed backspace.

I am having trouble with savefiles, but I think I have almost fixed them.
Also, The screen is kind of buggy (at least on my non-CX), so I am trying to figure that out.

Are you porting the BSD games to TI's non-POSIX OS, or to the community Linux port ?
The latter would probably be easier to port to, but of course, the former has immensely more users.

Is it a complete rewrite or a port of the original source ?

It is a port from the original source. I have not learned enough c to actually rewrite the whole thing.

Heya and welcome to the forums :), is the game in any way related to Battlestar Galactica? Also is it kinda like those old command line RPGs like Medieva and LPC muds?

It isn't related to battlestar galicatica, but it is a text-based RPG.

It is the wrong sub-forum to ask for help, so you might have to ask in the calculator C section for faster help. Of course I can't help since I never did Nspire C, though.

In ten minutes, the first version of battlestar for nspire will be released (I couldn't wait until I finished). Battlestar is a text-based role playing game.
I have implemented most of the features.
At the moment, these are the features I have yet to implement:
  -saving and loading games
  -backspace (this is first priority)
  -spaceship fight scene

please notify me if there are any changes you would like me to make.

It is not a matter of making mods cry, it's more a matter of discussion sanity because each post adds information about the author, which are the same when double/triple posting, and that is anoying.

On the other hand, double posting is tolerated in order to update the entire topic ("up") and make it visible in the first topics/IRC.
This is tolerated when it is usefull to update ("up") the topic, that means it has been couple hours since the last post.

Otherwise, editing the post is a good practice.

In that case I don't think it was a problem to double post, since it is a release announcement.
I do not get mad at people, I just want them to learn the way I learnt.

Didn't know how to word it but I pretty much agree with Levak.

I still need to fix the descriptions. What do people think of this game so far?
