Nspire Blackjack
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:26:30 pm »
Hi everyone!
A couple months ago, I made a blackjack game in BASIC for the Nspire. It was almost decent, and I was just planning to make a new, epic version of the game when Lua was discovered for the calculator.
School ends June 10th for me, so after that, I'll be working a lot on it using Lua. I just made this place as an update page, a place for you to make suggestions, a place for me to ask programming questions, and an overall incentive for me to finish.
Thanks!
P.S.- If anyone would like it, I can post my old game here.

Ok, I'll post it ASAP.
The lua version will hopefully eventually have graphics using Hoffa's tool for sprites (i think) with all of the basic commands, like hit and stand, possibly also split, surrender, and/or double down.

Okay, the original game is attached to this post.

Time for a question: how do you create a field for the user to enter a number in Lua?

You have to make your own I believe. You display text(prompt) then wait for them to put something in with the keyboard(you should probably display this also and then wait for enter for taking the value or something. Sorry if this doesn't make sense

No, it makes sense. My only question is how you display what they are typing.

You could store what they type to a variable then display that text after your prompt

It would be nice to see some graphics. With the Nspire resolution it should make things easier for card sprites :P

I'll post screenies when I make them (after finals :P).
BTW, what's the dimensions for the Nspire screen? How many pixels?

320x240, but in Lua you can't use all of it, if I remember.
