Just wondering...would it be pointless to have a axe/BASIC reader for the ti84+? I was wondering if I should even take the time to look into throwing one of those together....I wouldn't be hard.....It would just take up a lot of space, and copy/paste time
Also depends on how many people want to read a book from a bulky calc lol

I would love one, but i wouldn't know how to convert a txt file into calc code :P
Also should have options for like compiling everything into capital letters for optimization and stuff

All I would do is right the code on the calc for the menu and then connect of seperate programs with the actual books to that. That way you just have the books you want :) and I can write the book codes on the computer (faster) simply by copying and pasting. shouldn't be hard

Step 1:
Drag book text into IDE.
Step 2:
Put program on calc
Step 3:
Open program editor and read text :P

told you it's easy :) the only hard part is an exciting menu! and finding the books text files...GOOGLE!!

Or, as an alternative to writing on-calc, one could, oh I don't know... Use an 8XP editor and save the text that way? Just a thought, though. ;) *cough* BexIDE *cough*

But in a sense would this be like CatalogHelp for Axe minus the pressing-plus thing? If so, I'd be interested :)

It's an app that if you install it, you can press the + button next to a command and a screen will display that shows how to use it.

ohh, well I'm not sure where your going, but the idea is it's like an ereader. download books on the calc, the use this program to run them and read.

YEP, All I need now is a list of what books people want to read! I'll probably start this after I finish Seeker :) By the way Blak, I totally dig your sig (the music part) those are some awesome bands! I've seen them all in concert, and I've met TFKs people

Then you definitely need to support a common format (such as PDF). Since the 84+ calcs don't have any sort of real filesystem, you'd also need to write a computer side converter to wrap them up as appvars or programs.

I think the main thing this would need to be feasible is some awesome compression/decompression.  Otherwise, you won't be able to fit any meaningful amount of words.  I would expect somewhere around 2-3x should be doable with huffman and auto-casing.  Maybe even 4-5x if you map common words to individual bytes.
