« on: November 05, 2010, 08:06:15 pm »
Im currently working on a project from last year, Choice 7. I started this project last year, but never finished it. (school ended and had to give the calculator back.) So now im continuing it now. Any questions? Ill see if i can find Choice 1-6 on my computer and post them.

What type of game is this? I've never heard/seen of it before. In any case, good luck

Hmm I am curious what it is. Could you post some more details, like the game type (platformer, RPG, entire Starcraft clone (I hope ;D... j/k), puzzle, etc), type of graphics, and other stuff? I am also curious about Choice 1 to 6. Are they prequels to that game? Either way, can't wait to see what you will come up with :)

oh. well its based on a choose your own adventure type thing. if i can find the other 6, you can see for yourself. Im not good at explaining things, unfortunately. And yes, Choice 1-6 are prequels to Choice 7.

Ah ok, I'm not too familiar with those. Is it a bit like those RPGs where you pick a character at the start and depending of your choice, you see different sides of the adventure? I think I even recall a game where you could control either the hero or the bad guy.

I once made something like this, but it was awful.  I've seen some pretty good ones made, though.  Will it be text-based?

oh, wait, I've heard of these!  isn't there like a Choose, Choice, Choice battle and such?  I never had much patience to make these.  but they're are really quite fun until you find all the alternate endings.  ;)

And yes, Choice 1-6 are prequels to Choice 7.

My drug adventure 2 game didn't have a prequel of DA1.   Its prequel was DA3. ;)  you can't always assume ;D

Ah right I see now. I asked if the other games were prequels because in the case of Final Fantasy, each game in the series are not related to each others, same for that series of games for the old TI-83 non-plus that were just called "Game 1", "Game 2", followed by a sub-title.

Are you planning to eventually add some graphics, even if just ASCII art, in the future games? This might attract more people (I'm personally not a big fan of text games, because I have a bad memories of trying to find non-text games on ticalc back when the BASIC games section was just one single folder, but I like the ones that are large and got a lot of features.) into playing it. :)

Good luck! Technically, with ASCII it shouldn't be that hard. You can store the maps into picture files and pixel test your way through a portion of the picture to draw the map on the home screen. You can also store them in strings, but it's harder and larger.
