Ok, so I was thinking, anybody want to make a faster, and maybe more feature filled version of this game? It's an old favourite of mine, but it's not coded in the best way...
I had been working on a game inspired by it a while ago that I called Fleet. It would show where the fleets are, and it would allow you to create your maps and it would calculate the distance between the planets. It was much faster, but it did not feature names for planets due to the fact that you could have anywhere from 3 to 10+ planets (can't remember exactly). The graphics where a bit better, and it was still menu driven, but that doesn't really matter :P
Anybody want to take this up? Maybe make an Axe version or something?

Wow, I was just working on something like this! It was that ENDER SHMUP I had in my sig a few weeks ago :o

Interesting, I never tried this but it sounds kinda cool. Is it complicated to learn, though?

Hmm...looks interesting.  Ender's Game was such a good book.  Why is there a 'y' on the end of Hegemon?

Ah ok. If battles aren't too long I guess I would be fine. A Starcraft game can last 30 minutes sometimes before people start attacking. It's rare but sometimes people all decide to go for massive armies just for the sake of having a massive battle going on. However, if in a turn-based game a turn lasts about 5 minutes or if it takes 5 minutes to build the most basic structures like in Warcraft III then I might not like much :(

Its not structure based. And the gameplay is kind of slow, battles are instant but it can take up to 4 turns I think for your fleets to reach a planet.

Ah ok, I migth not like it much then X.x. I didn't like FF Tactics style battles or strategy games where you cannot build bases much. Idk why. :S

It might be a nice calc project anyway, though.
