i also loved the Megaman games too!!
but i still don't think itd work fast enough for realtime, but if it were done in assembly...(*timendus's api), or atleast the AI part, i guess itd work. My idea was to copy Baten Kaitoss's battle system. For those of you that don't know wat it is:
Enemy_________________________________Character
_______________________________cards
Card Based BAttle, RPG. On ur turn, there's a timebar that will decrease, and u must select a card to play. Once that card is being played, and if your max combo is atleast 2, then during the animation of the attack, you can select another card to play, and so on. We could just take out the timed aspect and have the player select the appropriate cards to play. Then the animations would be perforemd

Wow, we haven't even started work on this project yet and its already dying out. I think we should decide on a leader that will make sure this project doesn't die and we continue work very soon so that this project doesn't die out completly.

Ok, a foot must be put down for this to be done. If no one else will stamp a heel, I will. I am manager until some one else steps up. POLL:RPG,STRATEGY,CARD, POLL2:FANTASY,SCIFI,ZOMBY...1 vote each. No other options. If you don't vote by Sunday 12:00AM, you skip your vote. Any gripes about it? Post a suggestion and not a complaint, and thats that.
Votes:RPG,FANTASY

I won't...I just got a lot to balance right now between getting my forums put together (look at the sweet ranking 'pips' I have for each post level below) zelda and school and my health is improving since I can sleep again (home work is evil)
ON TOPIC: as soon as we have voted, next order of buisness it to 1.)lay down the structure, then 2.) define the functions and pseudocode planning, finish coding an engine, 3.) make any sprites, maps, data, story and AI 4.) polish and add goodies to it

Sorry guys, my internet has been up and down again for the past 2 wks. I was going to post about the storyline and starting to code it, but you guys picked up, thanks many. I'll wait for the vote to post my storyline notes, as it will (obvious) depend on what genre and type of game we're doing.

In the case of a tie, I will randomly draw between the highested voted using a randomint( on my calc
How the project will be run:
1.)We will decide exactly what the game will do
2.)I will make an overview of all code, graphic, and data segments of the game that need to be done and have them charted in the order in which they will need to be done
3.)People will make and code these parts and post them in the apropriet section of the project, and I will continue to update the chart
4.)We will pull them together, and began optimising
5.)write readmes, begin promoting it, and make it available

Looks good, but one thing before we do one is..
0)Get Storyline/CDI makes DevKits
Now, the devkit part could also probably be inbetween 2 and 3, I guess we will just see.

I think this sounds awsome (from what I understand this is a OPS project like how revsoft has theirs?) and I would be willing to help if I was to be apoint to a section. Btw randInt isn't really random!

I'm sure you can be a code monkey
