WARNING! SPOILERS! (altough some stuff might be outdated)

What follows are paper notes written by hand that I used to help myself work on certain of my large calculator projects. Some are missing, altough I must have them somewhere, but a lot of the stuff that is here is stuff I didn't thought I still had. There are even notes from the Reign Of Legends 4ever project I was working on during Fall 2004 and notes from another ROL4 project I totally forgotten (yes, finally there were 3 ROL4 projects). Stuff below ranges from May 2002 to January 2005. I might upload more later.

Note that several parts of these notes are in french, as it was easier to write this way for me back then. The only parts that were written in english were the ones that didn't require much effort to translate and when I wanted to save time, as french text is longer in general to write. Also my handwriting is not very good.

The Reign Of Legends 1 bestiary and maps (2003)

About the following, you have no clue how long this took to draw. I though this would guide myself to put the game maps in the calc, but finally it made me waste so much time. Still kinda cool nonetheless I guess. A few other notes available on those paper sheets:

Also, below you can see some notes about the game characters. Initially, Yuna was supposed to be named Yunai, and Oje was supposed to be named Goone.

The Reign Of Legends 2 bestiary (2003)
(there's a more up to date bestiary for ROL2 included with the game files in HTML format)

The Reign Of Legends 3 map drafts and deleted scene (2004)

And initially, I planned to allow a way to finish ROL3 earlier, skipping the entire 2235 AD portion of the game by getting a special item in the first village after finishing all 4 elemental palaces, instead of heading to the South Keep underground shelter. Here is it below, although it's in French:

The boss would have started the fight with Omega spell.

In the current game version, there is an indirect reference to this event, where a guy mentions the Elemental Cross, which is the convergence of all palace diagonals. Those lines crosses at Kindapulk village location, where the unused game event was planned to occur.

Below here's a sheet of notes for ROL3, but notice how initially magic combos were planned for certain orbs. Those never made it to the final game, and instead became regular magics.

Illusiat 11 bosses (2002)
I think this one is up to date. Feu, Glace and Foudre are the elemental protection. The higher the number, the stronger the monster is against that element (which is fire, ice and bolt, respectively). 3rd last boss in the list is the infamous optional boss in the final chapter. I don't remember exactly why I even bothered putting a Gold Piece column in that list, as bosses in that game doesn't give any money. I guess I was probably planning to also list enemies at first.

Mana Force tips & tricks (2002)
Small walkthrough I was going to start for people at school. This walkthrough was for version 1.3 or later. I finally stopped working on it and just tips and tricks were finished. I am unsure why I did this considering how easy this game was (it was aimed to introduce people to calculator RPGs)

Mystique: la Larme du Dragon notes (2002)
Most were written and planned by the game co-author

Reuben Quest: Ev Awakening notes (2004)
Sorry for crappy quality

Reuben Quest: The Lost Mirror (2004-05)
Again, my apologies for shitty image quality

The Reign Of Legends 4ever notes (2004)
The infamous ROL4 project (original progress topic and screenshots)

The Reign Of Legends 3-II: Theola Shire notes (2004)
I totally forgot I even had started writing notes for this project. This was going to be the original ROL4. It was started before ROL4ever, but never made it further than the paper sheet below. I was planning to rename the game to The Reign Of Legends 3-II: Theola Shire, as it was a direct sequel to The Reign Of Legends 3, featuring both ROL3 main character and a mysterious guy that appears out of nowhere during the final battle.

Kirby's World (2002)
This project never made it past planning stages. It was all planned by my bro, but was way too ambitious for my calc programming skills at the time. I believe this was planned before Illusiat 9, around Summer 2002.

This was gonna be a Kirby RPG on the home screen.

I got a ton of notes from some of my old games.

The high school ones are pretty old and hard to read, primarily because I used a memo pad to write down all of them. it was easier to carry around since it was the same size of the calculator. The manual also had conceptional games, Such as Animal fighter (A FPS based on Animal Farm) and OJ Fighter (A Fighting game with OJ Lawyers and the Like. Complete with MK Style finishers called objections.)

The college ones are scattered all though my regular school notes. lots of them deal with the Slayers engine since that was the ongoing project at the time. the others deal with the game layouts for the games I was working on. There's a ton of Punisher X-Treme ones in one notebook. There's even one for NPO VS Hays, although it's just the images.

I have no idea where the FF7 ones are. I think Hiryu lost his when his basement flooded. Mine I don't know where they are. My guess would be my closet but I could look in there for months and not find them. A lot of what I pieced together (what you read in the FFVII:DE rant) is from memory. The Very First Slayers Engine conception docs refer to the engine as the DE engine, since that what it was going to be used for before I got the idea to do a Slayers based game (which I never did do. Hiryu did those two RPG's.) The rest deal with PunXTreme and the like.

Another thing I would like to find is the original dotscan images of Punisher IV. It's impressive how well a paper drawing on graph paper translated to a Ti-85 picture. it's basically dead on. If I ever find it I'm going to post it online.

Some of my notebooks are posted on my site, but not a lot of it is game related and you'll probably think after reading them that I was crazy back then or wondered how I got through school without being forced to take some psych evaluation.

Hmm I should maybe try to find my unfinished comic books as well as some other notes from when I RP'ed with LEGO figurines back in the '90s or designed some game levels. I had some magic spell and character names there, I believe.

Also I didn't find this topic again until tonight. The last time I found it was a year ago, I think, because it was completely lost on page 15 of this sub-forum O.O

Yeah he has a load. He went off to MOP (some highly prestigious math camp) and was never heard from again. I heard he quantum divided into infinity or something. Divided by zero. That sort of thing.

I was lurking and I had to say...
MOP = Math Olympiad Program (also known as Math Olympiad Summer Program)
so he has a 6/12 chance of being in the US International Mathematics Olympiad team, which you should congratulate him for when he comes back.

I wish him luck. I also hope he returns here when he's done with that.

Back on-topic: I found more notes about my games, of stuff I totally forgot:

The Reign of Legends 1:
-In the planning stages, Yuna was called Yunai and Oje was called Goone.

The Reign of Legends 3:
-A game secret never made it to the final product (I didn't remember, but I checked the code in SourceCoder again and couldn't find code about it). In my storyline chronology, the part that is numbered 42 (coincidence) is titled A WAY TO PREVENT THE APOCALYPSE. Basically, after doing all 4 elemental palaces, instead of going to the South Keep, if you went to talk to a guy in the first village, Kindapulk, he would give you the Magic Spring item, which would allow you to immediately jump in the sky, challenging the final boss immediately. However, the battle was gonna start with him doing the Omega spell, so he was pretty much impossible to beat outside a New Game +. This was gonna end the game immediately.

There is one thing inside the final product that kinda refers to this secret: one guy in the village near the Wind Palace talks about the "Elemental Cross", which is the convergence of the palace diagonals. Another evidence is that Kasynudio village is right at the center of that cross.

I do not exactly remember why this never made it to the game, although back then it took heaps of RAM, so maybe I was just running out of memory. Else, maybe I just wanted to start working on Zelda: DLQ or plan a sequel :P.

Wow... lots of stuff u got there.
Always good to have copies on paper, since you're at least protected from unwanted deletion or even hardware bad surprises.
Good luck on those projects dj =]

Thanks. To clarify all those projects are either finished or cancelled, though, as they were from several years ago.

Also added a few more pics to the first post:

I just found this on my computer. Note: This was in .doc format but I was too lazy to manually convert it to HTML, so I used the converter in OpenOffice, which destroyed the formatting.

This is a file with info about the last ROL4 project from 2007, including parts of the story, what some variables did, jobs/abilities info, orbs info, etc.
