TIMP
« on: June 29, 2010, 06:04:40 pm »
Hi there,
Jim E was working on a version of msd8x that would play wav files and videoes from a flash drive before he abandoned the community.  I picked up the source code, fixed it, and it now works.  I will be creating a program I call TIMP - TI Media Player - that will allow you to use your calculator like a portable media player.  This will be much easier considering it is already almost done, I just have to touch it up and get a nice interface.
I think this would be nice to bring portable media to those who cannot afford a nice mp3 player or iPod.

Sounds awesome! Now I actually have a reason to use my adapter again!

Spoiler For Projects:

My projects haven't been worked on in a while, so they're all on hiatus for the time being. I do hope to eventually return to them in some form or another...

Spoiler For Pokemon TI:
Axe port of Pokemon Red/Blue to the 83+/84+ family. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia:
My big personal project, an original RPG about dimensional travel and a few heroes tasked with saving the world.
Coding-wise, on hold, but I am re-working the story.

Spoiler For Finale's Super Insane Tunnel Pack of Doom:
I will be combining Blur and Collision Course into a single gamepack. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia Origins: Sky's Story:
Prequel to Nostalgia. On hold, especially while the story is re-worked.

When I initially saw this thread, i thought it might be a gimp program. This is pretty cool tho. For video playback, do the videos support audio too? Is grayscale playback supported or is it black and white only? Lastly, do you have any idea what type of frame rate you get on video playback?

That is awesome. You should record a video of it working and put on Youtube. ;D

The video was in a Revsoft group by James Montelongo (Jim e), I think.
Hobbing in calculator projects.

I do remember that. It looks surprisingly good for being in black and white.

Me too. Maybe try a different name (like QuickTIme ;D)?

Anyway, this seems like a really useful project. (Does it happen to have anything to do with your promise to make a YouTube video viewer when (and if) a WiFi driver is created, by the way?)

It seems like USB8X is suddenly getting a huge community revival recently :)

What the acronym reminded me was more of TIMM, which is a video player for calcs from 2002 (that reads from RAM). The name seems fine to me, though. TI Media Player, right?

And I agree with Deep, about the USB8x community. For a while it seemed like it was almost dead.

Yeah, I like TIMP, TI Media Player.  Also, it would be a good basis to build YouTube videos from, yes ;)
