Ashbad's LW spritist notepad
« on: March 27, 2011, 08:41:56 am »
I've realized I've never shown my 'Ashbad friendly' sprite editor to the rest of the community yet.  I might as well do that now ;)

My LightWeight (LW) sprite editor is capable of doing 4 level grayscale sprite drawing with a simple UI that anybody can pick up in no time!  In fact, it's the best option for conceptual spritists who want to jot down quick 8x8 sprites -- similar to the monochrome version packed with axe releases, but faster and more responsive.

Controls:

Arrows - move
2nd - Draw black square
Alpha - Draw light gray square
Math - Draw dark gray square
Del - Draw white square
X2 - Invert all colors on screen
Clear + ^ - hold both down to exit (so you won't ever accidentally exit without saving work!)
Enter - Exit and convert the screen to hex in Str1

Enjoy the utility that has been used in the development of many games, including Trio and Niko: Falling, Pyyrix's Most Excellent Adventure, The Journeys of Pyyrix the Thief, BiMbAlL!, and WallBall (axe version)!

Ashbad, it looks great, simplistic, fast and cool. I like the fast and LW part of it.

Looks nice. :)
Since I only program in basic I always use black and white sprites, which I draw by hand. I don't need any sprite editor. I like drawing just like that.

sometimes I draw like that too, though for masked and 3-4 level sprites this has saved me considerable time ;D

Nice, and I'm glad it does 4 level and exports the string too.

I think every calculator hacker in the world has made a sprite editor at some point.

yeah -- mine is very primitive and such, but I just felt like I wanted to share what I use personally to get the job done faster ;)

Also sir, your sprite editor is very nice indeed ^-^

I never did, not even a quadratic solver. O.O I made several tilemap editors before, though.

My first one was in Basic and in monochrome, and it sucked. My current one is in Axe, and it shows the full sprite, the two separate layers, and even has a 5x7 mode for text :P
There's just one small problem, however: It can't export.
In other news, Frey continues kicking unprecedented levels of ass.
