SMA1 = Super Mario Advance 1, except Blobby is the main character. Omg.

Newest screenie:

Older screenie:

Yes, i've posted this in like every other calc forum. I haven't heard of a SMA1 clone yet, but the first SMA is like ten times cooler then all those noobie other 'lil versions.

No i'm not an artist, but i'll probably find some awesome mario art stuff somewhere. And no, I'm not using the physics in mario. I don't understand all that stuff. Maybe someone could explain it but for now, not gonna happen.

K thx.

84+ \ SE \ 83SE

I'm a pretty ineffecient coder so the speed on the 83+ won't cut it. ;)

Heya cjgone welcome on the forums, glad to see someone port Doki Doki Panic/SMB2US for the calculators. Altough this game is the black sheep of the Super Mario Series due to how it was made (or how it's so different than other SMB games) I still had lot of fun playing it when I had Super Mario All Stars for the SNES. This game is underrated and the result is that nobody ever attempted to port it to calculators before. It looks quite nice so far and true to the original, even if the main character is not Imajin or Mario. I hope to see this released :)

(on a side note in case some people don't know, Super Mario Advance 1 was originally released in USA as Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nintendo in 1988. But it is NOT the real SMB2. The real SMB2 was released in Japan in 1986 and looks almost like SMB1, except that it's one player only and you can choose between Mario and Luigi characters (Luigi jumps one block higher but is harder to control). Because in Japan they thought americans were all n00bs at gaming back then, they decided to not release this game here and the SMB2 we got is actually a rip off from the game that was released in Japan under the name Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic in 1987. Only some stuff were changed like the characters and it got renamed as SMB2. Later they released the real SMB2 from Japan as Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels over here.)

&fmt=18

Personally i always liked our american SMB2 better though, because it had a lot of more stuff and was quite different. The GBA SMA1 game is better since it adds a lot of new stuff plus more SMB elements, altough the sound quality is absolutely horrible (as with all GBA games compared to their SNES counterparts).

Honestly even thought many consider SMB2 US the bastard of the Super Mario Bros. Series, I have always loved the game. Honestly it's built similarly enough that it may as well have been a Super mario bros. game from the begining. Anyways... I look foward to seeing this as it progresses.

I also like how it's more like the GBA version than the NES and SNES versions. In the GBA version it's closer to Mario. On the NES and SNES there's practically no HUD. The only thing you see in the HUD is the hearts. NO timer either.

Right now the biggest issue i'm trying to fix is a 8-bit math error.

Like I subratct the the object coordinates from the left side coordinate, which gives its position on the screen... but I'm using 8-bit math so if the character is like 500 pixels off the screen, the value will be reset around 255 and still be drawn. I'm attempting to patch this atm by making a new routine. -.- And I don't feel like re writing all my code since it's pretty much based on quickest possible math, so I gotta find a better way.

I had a glitchy routine for the patch, but it caused some interference that I noticed. ;o
