well actually some ppl knew I was working on something atm on IRC but not what I was working on, actually I did some dissection with XXR engine, took the core and just kept the necessary stuff to make another DDR. However this one has some twists: items and if possible there might be power ups as well. Basically it works like DDR, but sometimes items appear in place of arrows. Here is what i have so far:
Goombas: make you lose 1 HP if u press them.
Arrows: nothing happens
Mushrooms: restore 1 HP
Flower: Restore 3 HP
Star: Restore 5 HP
Whats not implemented yet
Goombas: restore 1 HP under star effects
Arrows: Make the opponent lose 1 HP when pressing them in star mode
Flower: Make the opponent lose 2 HP
If the speed and size allow me so I might have mario be small by default and become big when hitting a mushroom, as small mario then u would lose 2 HP and as big mario 1. Also you would lose mushroom effect when hitting a goomba
Thats all I have so far, I dunno if I'll have other game modes yet, I am trying to get something different than other calc DDR actually, I do not want to compete against the others, which is why I wanted to have different features
anyway what keeps this project alive is ppl support (not only calc programming wise), I mean if something happens again in the community or irl the project might instantly die or something worse :(
, anyway I hope to get something done with this someday ^^

This looks very nice, hopefully it will mark your return in calc programming! Do you plan on adding grayscale?
Btw SMB3 is an awesome game, almost as good as SMB.

I am happy you decided to announce this, I wasn't sure if you were serious about making a Mario DDR game :P
. Looks and sounds awesome, I hope you can do what you have planed and hope all goes well with the level of motivation. Most important is that you are still here, you programming again is a bonus, but just having you is something that no one can put a price on!

thx guys for the support, here is some more updates:
-Stars, mushrooms and flowers works and enemy health as well. Basically here is the effect right now, I changed some minor stuff to help me code the whole thing
Normally when u miss an arrow or hit the wrong one, you lose 1 HP, when u hit a goomba you lose 2. When HP bar reach 0 its game over
With mushrooms when u hit an arrow successfully you gain 1 HP, and you can get flowers. If u hit a goomba you lose 1 HP that time but you lose mushroom effect
If you hit a flower when you have the mushroom effect the enemy lose 3 HP
If you hit a star you become invincible for a few seconds and there is a cool flashing/star effect ^^ plus hitting gombas with the star cause 1 HP damage to enemy. ALso in star mode you also gain 1 HP when hitting an arrow
that should be all for now I think, unless I forgot something, Now I need to implement win/losing

Holy dance pad of dreams, batman, that's pretty darn sweet! I've never seen anything like this before, and I think it's an awesome twist on the DDR formula!

it will be finished i hope, at least if not there will be full of song to play, alerady 11 are implemented, and 7 in smsd mode, altough you need to beat them in order in smsd mode. It start slow then final songs go insanely fast

Hehe, nice. I like how you need to unlock the songs, how do they unlock (besides playing with the files XD
) are they by a score or point based?

you'll have to get a certain amount of point in each of them to unlock other songs actually or difficulty modes. Plans has kinda changed since then tho so there might be different stuff in the game

Thought so, as it seems the best way to do it. Maybe since I suck I will just edit it or figure a way to cheat :P
