This is CRUEL. The HARDEST FREAKING MARIO LEVEL SET EVER. My friend and I made it about 2 years ago and STILL haven't beaten it. :banghead:
So, anyone up for a challenge? :)
-
Billy Mays is gone. It's time to let go.
-
Lol. But did you try it?
-
I will at some point, but I can't until I come home.
-
Look, leafiness0 makes levels that are nearly impossible to start, let alone finish.
I need to fix TI-Connect, then hopefully I can dump some mario levels on here. Our school is pretty sadistic at level-making...
-
I gave up about after 130 lives..
-
I've made entire levels with invisible floors, and ones entirely composed of bullet based platforms.
-
hoq do you get invisible floors?
-
haha phenomist remember legendary?
-
Watch their faces when I give them Needler :D
-
Happybobjr, there are two tiles that appear completely black. Only one is solid.
-
Yup. My friend is actually making Cruel2. Fun!
Also, could you post those two level sets you mentioned? I love new ones (keep me occupied in Math class. I'm running out of games to beat.)
-
Once I figure out how to get TI-Connect working. Did a reinstall, changed drivers, etc, to no avail. :(
-
Are you using 64-bit Windows? It doesn't accept unsigned drivers. If you're using 32-bit, then I suggest TiLPII.
-
It works on my 64-bit win 7. I had to totally reformat my calculator to get it to work, though.

garbage collect and ram clear? Tends to help everything.
Edit: Ninja'd.... Ya 64 bit drives me crazy.
-
Using 32-bit XP. TiLP crashes if I try to do anything significant. (It says none->null #1 at the top; clicking it makes the program attempt to search for the calculator to no avail; pressing Operating System, or refreshing on the Screen window makes the program crash, as well as pressing Variables)
TI-Connect doesn't crash, but it doesn't do anything useful either...
(and yeah, that's TiLP2)
-
Try using Windows XP compatibility mode. It works like a charm for me.
-
Ok, garbage-collected and ram-cleared. Nothing.
By the way, both my computer and my calculator can tell that they are connected to each other, it's just that the programs on my computer can't.
@sircmpwn: Wait, XP compatability with what? Do I have to downgrade to 2000 or something?
-
In Windows 7, go find the executable you want, right click and hit properties. Look around until you find compatibility. Enable Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Works great.
-
Using 32-bit XP.
Yeah... I'm using XP right now (and up to SP3 too)
-
right click ti connect hit properties go to compatibility and change it to xp
-
He's using XP, so.... :P
Hmm....TilP and TI-Connect can't be on the same system at the same time. They fight, and neither wins.
-
Hmmm, I got somewhere with TiLP. But now my computer rejects my TI-84 as an malfunctioned device D:
Sigh.
EDIT: It's working better, changed cables (for the fourth time). Hopefully I can get those levels out to the world.
-
Msg: Invalid Command ID
Uhoh.
-
Or you could send them to me on monday and i could upload them, I guess.
BTW do you still have legendary? i know i lost level two to a ram clear but you might still have level one...
-
I still have both levelpacks.
I'll send you six levelpacks that demostrate our school's level-making capabilities.
-
Have fun guys.
ONEUP is of my creation, showcasing some strange mechanics.
BS is also of my creation. It's not really hard, it's just unorthodox.
leafiness0 made LEGEND and NEEDLER. Good luck? They're small and are only one level long, but don't let that fool you.
FRUSTRAT and A (IMPOSSIBLE) are other people from our school.
-
I gave a guy in my math class the mario editor and it crashed his calc in a couple days :P
It was running 2.53, tho
-
Haha yes!
Crashing occurs when the map is more than 128 tiles wide or if you attempt to delete the last column.
Also, maps that are wider than 128 tiles create some interesting glitches.
-
Not by your level, I think he was just screwing around with it. Next day, in math class...
-
Just wondering, has anyone had the chance to test-run any of the levels?
-
I remember making an hard level once but I lost it I think. I'll try yours when I have some time.
EDIT: Ok I did. Is it even beatable? O.O

w00t DJ is that beatable? Seems damn hard.
-
Indeed. I got a bit far at one point but then with all the bullets it just got insane. How many levels are there btw?
It actually reminds me Kaizoo Mario World and Mario Bros Frustration.
-
There are 5 levels. The 3rd one is kinda a gimmie as of right now, as it's undergoing reconstruction. The 5th level should be pretty easy as well.
And yes, it's possible (NOTE: I can do it in 1 try on the real hardware)
-
Wow I was playing at 1% Wabbitemu speed. O.O
-
I have gotten to the end level 4 on the hardware, but never beaten it.
-
Nice. I wish Wabbitemu had re-recordings so someone could TAS the level. :P
-
TAS?
-
Wow, that's really hard indeed.
Hard Mario levels remind me of the high difficulty of Grav, by bobti89, on the TI-68k platform: http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/346/34625.html
I could play a significant number of levels in the beta versions of the game, but most of the "easy enough" (to my tastes) levels aren't present in the final version (AFAICT), which makes the game somewhat frustrating :(
-
Oh wow I remember this. I think someone tried to port it to the 83+ a while ago, but I forgot who. Personally I prefer that people includes some easy enough levels with games, like Sam heald did with Mario for the 83+. Hard level sets or hacks are welcome, like above, but if they are included in the final product they need to come with an easier set. I remember Donut Quest was so incredibly hard too. X.x
-
Hmm, well level 1 doesn't seem too bad in CRUEL. Our levels are 128-column epics, sometimes. I can't beat NEEDLER despite it being only halfway complete.
On a sidenote on gimme levels: in ONEUP, #8 and #9 are gimme levels. I really should edit the level, had I still remembered the level password. (The password is encoded, one letter per level starting level #10) Oh well. Any way to decrypt levels?
-
Any way to decrypt levels?
There is. Open it with something like Tokens or Ti Graph Link. A few characters in on the first line, you will see the password.
-
Wow, really? I thought the programmer would use the password as a two-way hash or something. Ok thanks. I might transfer the new level ONEUP later.
-
TAS?

I don't think TI-Graph Link opens such program. It normally only opens BASIC ones. SourceCoder and TokenIDE should, however.
-
I opened with Notepad; it works conveniently well.
-
Played the level in school, CRUEL appears easier than LEGEND or NEEDLER, partly because I can actually pass the first three levels :P
@Binder News: Have you tried any of the levels in my post?
-
Hmm I haven't tried yours. I'Ll need to give them a try at one point.
