Tornado (working title)

Hey guys, I just wanted to share a little side project I've been working on now for a short while.

There's no story or game mechanic implemented yet, so I would like to have your thoughts/ideas!

I was initially planning to remake Dragon Quest Monsters, but it seems a bit too complex. Monster encounters should be in it, though. :)

Looks nice! I'm really glad to see you working on something. :) Aside from the battle screen it looks very Zelda-esque, and that's not a bad thing. *Edit* I see there are more pics on Revsoft.

That's looking pretty awesome.

Had to read the topic on Revsoft to better understand what's going on, but if I understood it right, what you've got there is amazing and I hope it continues growing.

But anyways, what would you like to see? Collecting monsters with breeding or a more RPG style game with swords, shields, mana, spells?

I think we are lacking good real-time action RPGs :)
I mean things like Zelda, where you see and fight opponents on the map, not like Pokémon where you don't see nor fight anything on the map but you fight them in a separate screen.

I agree. While monster collecting is fun, i think more RPGish would be cool. If you wanted to go the action RPG route, i wouldn't mind either. :D

Ok great, thanks.

Party principles:
  • Single: one main character fights
  • Party: multiple characters form a group and fight
  • Monster party: exchangable monsters fight by your side
RPG elements:
  • Classes/Skills: magic attacks, skill tree, ...
  • Attributes: strength, intelligence, dexterity, vitality => attack, defense, agility, hit points, mana
  • Equipment: weapons, shields, rings, ...
  • Crafting: ingredients, enemies drop items, recipes, professions, ...
The more I think about this, the more I like the idea of a single player crafting rpg game with random monster encounters.
