Original Reuben Quest doesn't work on WabbitDS
« on: May 04, 2015, 01:27:55 am »
The second one does just fine, but the first seems to lock up on the "set the contrast" I tried to xfer the save file so I can get past it but it dooesn't seem to work. It gets stuck on the contrast/refresh scren Idon't know what's causing it, even attempting to unarchive evreything it still doesn't run correctly and freezes again.

Do you mean the Axe remake or DJs basic version? I never had problems with either running in wabbit...

Have you ever used WabbitEmu on the Nintendo DS Sorunome? I don't think it's very up to date.

The sequel one works just fine and I know that it's not that up to date, even though it's 1.0 it doesn't run as fast as I'd like for it to be Basically it runs ~20% slower than on my actual calc(the second one), and the xlib ti-basic gaems with the 2x speed mode run almost as fast as on the calc itself. I'm sure part of it is that the ds isn't that fast really at all. And I was hoping to have a simple way of going at it, but that's the one game that gets stuck on the "set contrast/refresh rate" screen. The second one runs just fine andseemingly at full speed. Both are the axe versions, I'd not dare attempt to run the original basic ones due to how slow oher basic games run.

Obviously, something isn't being emulated correctly on WabbitDS. Unfortunatley, the original author of WabbitDS  (Jim E) has been gone from the community for quite a while. BuckeyeDude is the current maintainer (of wabbitemu), but as far as I know he's never done any work on the nintendo ds version. I've no idea if the source is even out there anymore. You could ask him or one of the other guys at Revsoft (where it was developed) about it,  but I'm not sure you'd have much luck.

The source is included with it or at the least it was when I got it, butthe whole thing about revsoft as far as I can tell they've dissappeared off the face of the earth as the site has long since gone from any attempt or idea of them existing.

Ah OK then, I'll try to message them there/on codeplex then and see if the core emulation code has any chance of getting updated. At the least to the 3ds homerew.

Buckeyedude doesn't check Revsoft that often, Spencer and Jim e don't either. NanoWar, add, myself and a couple other folks are still around and somewhat active, i unfortunately can't help with the DS emulator, though. Spencer's made a couple secret appearances (commits) the past few months over at Codeplex, though. Mainly related to the Zelda Map Editor ;)

Ill be honest I have the ability to look into and fix wabbit DS. That being said its kinda a dead horse it works as is for basic function albeit not many games work. That being said there is a chance I could look into it  but first let me suggest trying the game on a normal calc and inputting the keys into wabbit DS like you would on calc. There may be an issue with the LCD physics. TBH I have no idea if contrast was properly implemented.

Now with that a 3ds port of wabbit emu would be rather nifty. And I might look into making a homebrew of that. Cause that would be cool.
