Hello, I'm a friend of Loki, he told me I could find people to help me here so that's why I'm here.
I need people who speak (or rather write) fluently, or fairly well, at least two of the following languages : English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese (traditional), Korean, Russian, Italian, German.
You will be translating some sentences, for my personal non-official project, still at an experimental stage. If you want to take a look :
http://ho.vanhoang.free.fr/dico/sentencesdatabase.php
And since I'm not a programmer, if you have good computer language knowledge, you could help me out for some other things. Because there are few things I'd like to do but I'm not sure how to do them and I need someone to guide me =)
Thanks.
T.

*Spellshaper volunteers for english-german
welcome, btw. ;)
-
Thanks ^__^
Yea, just one thing with German, it's the language that has the most translated sentences, because I got my German friend addicted to translating my sentences lol. I don't know why, but she's really into it. So you probably won't have much work. Although you can always check out the correctness of the sentences by reading for fun the few sentences that I have in the database... if you have nothing better to do ^^;
-
aww... ok ^^
-
http://babelfish.altavista.com/ if you need
.
Also I speak a little spanish and could help with that as long as the scentences aren't to detailed.
-
hm, now I get an internal error 500 when I try to go to your site...
-
Works fine now :P
-
ukay
-
Imo i wouldnt suggest using babelfish to translate sentence to something else than english because it look horrible most of the time
Welcome here btw is there lot of french sentence to translate because I may not have enough time if there is a lot but if there is a few I could try to give you an hand for english>french or vice versa because I am french canadian ^^
-
Xlibman, I didn't mean for use on entire scentences, I meant if the people needed help translating a few words that is a nice tool to have.
-
oh lol yeah that way it is good
-
Fluent in Spanish and English...would love to help.
-
Hey trang =) I'll try to put in a bit of russian or something ^_^
-
Oh wow, I didn't expect so many replies...Sorry for responding so late, I was in Germany =P And then when I came back I started working on how to have statitcs about the contributions the translation of my database (which I just finished setting up).
Okay... I'm gonna PM everyone who answered.
In case you didn't notice, my server is pretty slow sometimes. If you notice any bug, let me know.
-
Just to let you know...alot of the sentences that you have on the site don't have a very literal translation of so if you are trying to use these sentences to try to teach vocabulary, people might get very confused.
-
its kinda hard to translate litterally, sometimes it makes no sense anymore >.<
-
Yeah, like proverbs. Still I translasted one according to the meaning.
-
damn. What happened? I can't access the site anymore :(
-
I still can.
-
I still can access it too.
-
o.o
...must have been down for some hours...
-
So it works for you now?
-
It should work... but yea, when the server's down, just come back another day. Sorry for the frustration.
As for the translations, as I pointed out, it's pretty hard to translate. I don't want litteral translations though. You should always translate the way you feel is the best way to express it even if the words don't really fit. It should always make sense.
If there's a pun, and you can't find a way to translate while keeping the meaning, then don't translate.
And if you aren't sure about the meaning of a sentence, then just send me a mail or IM me on MSN.

ugh yeah I got lot of trouble with some sentences, I got one tho but the others are kinda hard for me >.<
