iPod friendly forum
« on: November 29, 2009, 01:43:42 am »
Well I've been trying to set up a site with a iPod touch friendly forum kit I got online. I'm having some problems, but I was wondering what people thought. Would an iPod touch friendly forum site be good? Or should we try and find an iPod friendly skin for omnimaga?

That sounds like a good idea.  I vote for a friendly skin.

I am a bit against multiple Omnimaga forum skins, because when we want to update the navbar or install certain mods, then we're stuck having to modify both skins at once all the time, which takes a long while. Also I myself had so much trouble editing that skin that I had to ask help from tr1p1ea to edit some stuff

Actually, there is a SMF mod that enables Lo-Fi version like on UTI at the bottom so it is easier to read by search engines and lower resolutions. The only issue with that though is that the board becomes in read-only mode when you go in this mode.

well I have started work on an iPhone/iTouch friendly SMF theme that is specific to Omnimaga, there is currently a theme out there that is iPhone/iTouch friendly but not specific to Omnimaga, so I am modifying that theme to look like ours. more info to come as I get ready to upload it

EDIT: also it looks like the theme will auto switch if it detects an iPhone/iTouch, so you don't have to set it yourself

sounds like a great idea man!  This site's a pain to go through with the iPhone, cuz its so large!  Let me know when it'll be ready, or will it just automatically show up as default?

solution: browse the forums from a real computer like how it should be :P

I agree this might be problematic for people with limited computer access, though...
