Sorry for the sudden take down without much warning, geekboy got a hold of me and here's what I told him about it.

No one got more [information] than what's on the page now, but essentially, someone's been randomly uploading a bunch of pornographic pictures in chunks randomly (probably multiple people because some are animated gifs and some looked like they were self pics from a cellphone) and I haven't had the time to manually get rid of them all.

It's really a matter of disrespect though. That's the only real rule I had and it was being broken repeatedly. Besides, some days I'd like to check my email without penises in face. (not to mention my host doesn't allow that sort of content... it's not like they'd just shut down the sites, but they'd want me to go through and get rid of them all) I could probably handle it a bit better if I actually finished the system to moderate the images, but right now I have to go in and find the file in question and either just delete it or replace it.

I guess I was being a little petty about it since I've been going through a lot, but I just got tired of it. I can get it back up and running if you guys still really want it. (though it's a surprise that this still gets used with much better solutions out there)

To direct answer some questions brought up in the topic:

Q: Can you give others mod privileges?
A: Unfortunately, I never set up a moderation system. I planned on it, but just didn't have the time. How the 'system' works now is, once a image is successfully uploaded a email with the image is sent to my personal email (to make sure I check it). If it's inappropriate, then I have to load up my FTP program, scroll through the thousands of images (list of file names) to find the bad one, then delete it or (as I usually do) replace it with an image with the same name and a warning so the offender sees it and has no excuse to repeat it. This wasn't working and took entirely too much time due to how often people were uploading this stuff.

Q: When will it come back?
A: Well, I planned to get it back up when I had a bit more time and cooled off some, but geekboy is trying to replace now... so unless you guys don't like his version of the site or his version dies/has issues, it will stay down permanently.

Q: What will happen to all the images already uploaded?
A: They will continue to stay on my server until I die. (aka, they'll work forever) I'm downloading all of them as we speak so I can zip them up and share it here. Geekboy will apparently host a copy of them and anyone else is free to as well. Take note that this is over 8000 images, so it's pretty big and will take a good deal of time. Links should be up tomorrow sometime.

Yeah that's what I thought. Another possibility is spambots uploading adult images for posting on forums or something.

A moderating system would definitively be nice, although at least I'm glad you don't have to telnet through the server then delete pics via a command line interface like ticalc.org or something.

It sucks how some idiots can ruin something for everyone else, though. The issue is if those pics kept being uploaded, someone might have eventually ran into them then complained at 1and1, then you would have gotten problems.

no it will not be integrated completily. it will remain public for use. it just has a much easier to use moderation que. i have to click check boxes then delete thats it.

Could you add a 1 MB file limit, so that people stop uploading 4 MB large animated GIFs of homescreens followed by title screens a minute later because they can't type Asm(prgmNAME properly?

Indeed he posted . Also for rule following, if someone wants to troll he's certainly not gonna follow rules. And I know AP is involved in non-Omni communities, so it is possible that he ran into people elsewhere that got angry at him or something and they happen to know his tools and server.

I have like 100GB of space on a server if you guys want.
