i guess it is, but it sounds a lot easier than it does to program it. I believe ningamaster on MC forums started an xlib boxing game, but besides that, i dunno... :)smile.gif It would be cool though, maybe someone will do it?

Kevin, why censor me for? My post was friendly, and it was only a suggestion. I said that calcs lack fighter games, and that if he would develop a fighting game it has the potential to get really popular. I did not have the slightest intention to disturb anyone.

One of the reasons I think that there aren't many fighter games out there is because of:

- XLib is not fast enough for such fast-paced games and/or
- there is more work involved in making a good fighter game than you would think, just take all the separate animations for every character and you should get an idea :knight:knight3.gif

i deleted the post because it said why not making the game yourself, because it defy the point of a program idea section on a forum, which is meant to pass the cake

Even in C it's daunting *shudders*

But if you've got a lot of experience, it oughta be cake.

Trust me, I considered tackling such a project and decided against it - walking animations, hitting animations, injured animations, animations for every special move... that's tens if not hundreds of hand-drawn sprites - it's more suitable for a team project rather than a single job. I'd love to see Streets of Rage on a calc someday though. :)smile.gif

it's easy, you have diffrent AIs, and let them at the character, you can use a follow AI, then an attack AI, then an defend AI, and this is all quick, if I had my old calc working with all the files I'd upload my fighting game I was doing

yeah, it would be, but the sprites are hard, and as Alex mentioned, LOTS of frames  o.oblink.gif

Did you ever consider using TestCollide16x() from ExtGraph?  It's remarkably fast for collision detection between sprites.  I think it'd make some of the stuff easier for a SSB type game.

edit: and as for sprites, you could always get them from someone else who's really  talented at pixel art.
